Discover how to hide your character's helmet in Elden Ring with our step-by-step guide. Can I hide my character's helmet in Elden Ring? Find out now!

In Elden Ring, aside from its well-known features such as boss difficulty and a huge map to explore, there are also a few appealing features that this game offers: character customization and the hide character's helmet option! However, due to the difficulty of the gameplay, players must equip armor pieces and parts and enhance their defenses from head to foot to survive for a little longer.

So to answer the question:

Is there a hide helmet option in Elden Ring?

The answer is yes.

How do I remove the character's helmet?

During gameplay:

  1. Go to Menu > Click the Status menu
  2. On the status screen, press Swap Screen, then the Hide Helm command (Triangle for PlayStation) to hide the helmet. That will hide the character's helmet and show its face.

There is one catch...

You can only remove the helmet from the menu, not during actual gameplay. That's too bad! We can only see the character's face when we are in the status menu, but we cannot do it while playing! Don't worry too much! We have some workarounds for this.

Alternatives to the hide-the-helmet option:

(1) Unequip the helmet completely

The best solution to show your character's face is to completely remove it. However, removing the helmet may decrease your defense, the damage absorption stat, and the immunity it provides. When you face a difficult foe or encounter boss fights, you may want to equip your helmet again.

Pros of unequipping the helmet

"Fashion Souls" or "Elden Bling" Gamers who are into deep customization of their characters are using these terms. They want to show people the uniqueness of their character by showing their face or image when doing an online co-op or PVP.
Weight reduction In exchange for the lack of defense, your character will lessen the weight and can move faster.
You get better At dodging, parrying, and timing the enemies' attacks because you cannot bear receiving the enemy's damage.

Cons of unequipping the helmet

Lesser defense Don't worry! This can be compensated by more grinding and leveling. If your character dies after a few hits from the boss, then that's a sign that you need to retreat for now and level up your character first. There's no shame in that!
Less resistance to negative status and debuffs Your character is now vulnerable to getting status ailments like poison, scarlet rot, bleeding, and other annoying stats.
Cons of Unequipping the Helmet in Elden Ring

My Elden Ring character is equipped with great helmet, chubby armor, and 2 great axes, but nothing on its legs and shoes making it look funny

(2) Use a third-party mod that removes the helmet

This is a good solution to show the character's face, but using mods has limitations:

  1. This is only available to PC users.
  2. It needs some technical knowledge.
  3. This is not available for online multiplayer. There's a risk that you can corrupt the base game.
  4. In some cases, your account might get banned from online play, so please be careful!

If these are okay with you, feel free to use them! Nexus Mods provides a mod for this. I haven't tried this. A gentle heads-up on the risks and limitations I cited above.

Helmet On or Helmet Off?

Now that we know the pros and cons of removing the character's helmet, which one do you prefer? With or without? I want my helmet equipped because it makes my character's defense better, and I like the current helmet I'm using! This was gifted to me by a friend when we had an online co-op!

Summary

Showing the character's face is a cool feature in Elden Ring! However, there are some drawbacks to it.

Truly, there is so much to do aside from exploring the Lands Between in Elden Ring! Video games have come a long way, and we truly live in the best era of gaming!
