As the temperatures drop and the year-end draws near, gamers around the globe eagerly anticipate one thing: the Steam Winter Sale 2024. It’s that time of year when our favorite gaming platform, which is PC, gifts us with irresistible discounts, making it the perfect opportunity to massively increase our gaming libraries (or rather, backlogs) without breaking the bank!
The Steam Winter Sale begins on December 19 and ends on January 2, 2025. Lots of discounted games will be found here, so make sure you check it out!

You can also see great game bundles that are on sale. Some games offer discounted DLCs for a limited time, so make sure you keep an eye out and search for the games that you’ve been waiting for the price to drop.
Wishlist for Quick Access
Prior to the sale, I made a wishlist of all the games that I wanted to buy. This handy feature helps me keep track of my all-time favorites and games that are pretty expensive and waiting for prices to drop. It’s like putting these games on my favorites list so I don’t forget about them.
If you find a game that you wish to buy later (perhaps you have many backlogs or you’re waiting for its price to drop), then I highly recommend putting that game on your wishlist. You will receive an email from Steam when that game is put on sale.
Steam Sale Reduces Piracy (somehow)
One of the main advantages of buying on Steam Sale is that it helps in reducing piracy because of its low price. It encourages gamers to own their own copy of the game instead. Although there will always be gamers that will prefer playing FREE for not-so-legal means, it is still a great move, in my humble opinion.
Gift Steam games to other players.
Don’t forget, the Steam Winter Sale is also the perfect opportunity to gift games to friends and family. Spread the joy of gaming by sending a beloved title to a fellow gamer. You can do this by purchasing a game and sending it to another person. It’s a heartfelt way to celebrate the holidays and share your passion for games, isn’t it?

Unwrap Amazing Deals—literally!
The Steam Winter Sale is renowned for its incredible variety of deals on games from all genres. The games here offer a huge discount on almost all of the games in their library, and for sure, most of the games on your wish list offer a huge drop in their price!
When you check Steam’s website today, you will notice they are selling games that are under PHP400 and even under PHP200! These games are a mixture of a little-old AAA game (sometimes new! ), some JRPGs, and some Indie games as well. Check it, and you’ll be surprised! Here are examples of the huge discounts!
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Two of the noticeable games here are Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which is only PHP 207.92, or roughly 3.5 USD. This is one of my favorites, so it’s a no-brainer for me, and I already added it to my Steam Library!
…and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which was released February 2024, and getting mixed gameplay reviews, but I think I will enjoy the campaign’s story. You can purchase it for only PHP 164.5 (less than 3 USD!), which I believe is a steal-deal!

I still don’t have a Steam Deck; is that okay?
As of writing this article, I too don’t own a Steam Deck (although I am saving for it bit by bit), so you’re not alone! 😄 The Steam games are built for PC gaming, so you can enjoy these given that your hardware meets the game’s requirements.
I also buy these games in preparation that I can play them by the time I own this great handheld gaming device. So, if you have cash to spare, you might as well log in and purchase a couple of games in the library and build your backlogs!
I ran out of budget; will there be another sale like this?
If you’re out of budget today, then that’s okay! I don’t recommend buying on credit for these games in order to add them up to your library and will begin the new year flat broke or deep in debts. Surely, there will be another massive sale coming in the next months, just like the Steam Spring and Summer Sale of 2024. Make sure to save up some cash so you’re prepared when the time comes!
